Welcome to Velocity Gamer 2.0!

Well, this is it!  We’ve moved from our old, cramped, 90s-looking site, to this beauty!  It’s got everything: buttons, pages, pictures, you name it!  All the essentials are here for you to use at your leisure.  But this site is more than just a face-lift; we’ve got big ideas for this new chapter of Velocity Gamer!  Here they are:

We’re a group of gamers.  That means that we live, breath, and obsess over the medium that we love.  On this site, you’ll find not just news, previews, and reviews, but also our opinions and our insights on both the industry and the games that it produces.  That means that you won’t always agree with us, and that’s good!  We want to foster conversation and discussion about topics of interest so that we can better understand you, our audience, and your own opinions.  Hopefully, through those discussions, we can find ways to improve whatever the topic is.  That is our main goal:  To report on and improve the video game industry. Without you, this goal cannot be achieved!  So, I recommend that you sign up on the site and start getting involved in the discussion!

Ooh! We're so pretty now!

Now that all the serious stuff is out of the way, let’s talk about some of the awesome things we’ve got planned on the site!  We’ll be rolling out our new and improved forum section soon, so it’ll be easier than ever for you to post about topics you’re interested in and get input on them from both us, and your fellow community members.  Also, we’re gonna try and team up with some awesome companies for more contests and prizes for you!  You’ll hear more about that when we do!

2012 is looking to be one of the biggest years for games ever!  And what’s a great year of video games without E3?  That’s right, we’re in the process of getting a team together for an all-access view of the 2012 E3 Convention.  The biggest gaming announcements and updates of the year will be available on our sight, for you!  How awesome is that?!

Along with previews and reviews of both AAA and indie titles, we’re planning on getting interviews with many different developers around the industry, allowing them to share their stories, insights, and advice with you.  Stay tuned for any announcements of who exactly we’ll be interviewing this year!  You won’t want to miss these!

While the written word is a powerful thing, it can only get you so far when talking about an interactive medium like video games.  Sometimes, a strong visual representation is needed.  So, in order to fill that need, we’ll be rolling out Video Reviews, Walkthroughs, Podcasts, LiveStream Contests, and many more special events.  We’ll let you know each time a new video is coming out and you’ll have the opportunity to tell us what specific content you want to see covered!

We’ve got a lot of great opportunities for you to get involved with the site, so again, be sure to sign up and participate as much as you want to!  Not only do we want to be your number one source of gaming information, we want to be one of your favorite places to come—a place where discussion is encouraged, not disregarded or forgotten about.  So please, help us to make that dream a reality!

Here’s to a great new year!

The VG Team

Special Note from Nick: Thanks to everyone who donated to building of this site. In total we reached $100 in total donations which helped pay for the 2 themes purchased and will pay for the start up of the site. The rest will be kept in the fund for other expenses to the site that may come up. So thanks again for all your help and as promised you will find your names on the “About Us” page as contributers to the building of this awesome site. The goal this year is to get the site down as low as we can in the Alexa Rankings and build a thriving community of gamers. So make sure to get the name out there anyway possible..even if it involves you tattooing the name on your butt! Nah I won’t go that far :p
