Ubisoft drops always-on DRM

PC gamers everywhere, rejoice! Recently, in an interview with Rock, Paper, Shotgun, Ubisoft confirmed the end of their always-on single-player DRM. “We have listened to feedback, and since June last year our policy for all of PC games is that we only require a one-time online activation when you first install the game, and from then you are free to play the game offline.” said Stephanie Perott, worldwide director of online games for Ubisoft. Want to play Assassin’s Creed 3 on a layover, but that crappy free airport internet keeps dropping? That potential social faux pas can now be avoided.

Whether this sticks or not remains to be seen, but at least somebody is listening to gamers.
