Sony released a short, 16-second advertisement on the PlayStation YouTube channel today. You can watch the trailer below.
If you look carefully, it appears the woman seen in the video strikes a resemblance to the same woman who was seen in the “Michael” advertisement Sony released last year. The Michael ad celebrated some of Sony’s characters and greatest games, discussing how it was Michael who helped them on their adventures.
Granted the Michael video was over two minutes in length, while this one appears to be shorter. Furthermore there are a few clues to suggest and or hint at what Sony might be teasing.
First notice that there’s a clock on the wall next to the mysterious figure at the desk, with the PlayStation’s four controller symbols on it. Also a sign on the desk that says SARU! GET YOU!, a reference to Sony’s Ape Escape franchise.
The biggest feature however, comes when the power goes out, and you hear that telltale electrical sound that indicates Cole from Infamous may be nearby. The woman at the desk looks up at whoever is there, almost disappointed, as she basks in the glow of the electricity.
The date shown at the end of the ad is October 23, 2012, which is the date the new PlayStation Store design is set to go live in North America. The title of the video, along with this date, would indicate that this is the most obvious answer to what the video is teasing. The connection could be nothing however, I am merely speculating, heck it might even be an early PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale teaser.
