ReveLAtions Finals: BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend  still had its following and had competitors in ReveLAtions 2012. Hiding in the shadows of newer, more popular games like its sister game Persona 4 Arena, it was still present and ready to kick some ass.

The first match-up was between AcidAce and his Hazama vs. Stayfree and Bang. After much back and forth action, with Stayfree taking the first round, then Acid Ace, it was down to match point. After a long battle, Stayfree took the match against AcidAce with his faithful Bang.

Next up were two competitors not strangers to the fighting game scheme. Happy Medicine vs. A.N. West, A-11 vs. Arakune. Although Happy had been playing a good game prior to this point, this particular match did not fare so well for him. A.N. West took both rounds and the match, even though the first round was very very close.

No stranger to anime fighters was Jason D and his Rachel. He was up against Maruchan Noodles and his very own A-11. The rounds shifted sides constantly, bringing it yet again to match point. In the end, it was Noodles who took the match in victory, knocking Jason out of the competition.

Happy Medicine was back on the stage against ODD03. Happy stuck with A-11 while ODD03 ran with Taokaka. It was no contest for ODD03, who took both rounds in victory. Right after that match was AcidAce up against Maruchan Noodles. Very little rest for these competitors as they battle it out once again, Hazama vs. A-11. The first round was very close, but AcidAce was able to take the victory of the match with a 2-0 win.

He got a very little break in between the matches, as he was facing off against ODD03, the one who took out Happy Medicine. Now these rounds were definitely one for the history books. Back and forth, back and forth, with each round coming so close to anyone’s victory. It was match point and AcidAce pulled…heh…an ace in the hole and took the match in victory.

The next match determined who was going to move into the final match. It was Stayfree vs. A.N. West, Bang vs. Arakune. This was an intense match! Round one ended with a PERFECT for A.N. West, one of the few perfects in the tournament. Did this discourage Stayfree? Heck no! He switched it up to Tager and gave it his all. It was down to a set point, where both of the wins from A.N. West were come from behind victories. Arakune was barely on a sliver of health and A.N. West was able to pull it out of his ass and win. After that round, there was a pattern of this, for the next sets after that were the same. Sliver of health…come from behind victory. A.N. West really knew how to give the audience a show and took the match in victory.

The final match was slowly approaching and while Stayfree lost against A.N. West, he was not out yet. He still had some fight in him and he took that into his fight against AcidAce. Something must have sparked him into fighting like a champ, because he took the first two rounds like a boss. One of them he did cut pretty close, but for the most part, he was on like Donkey Kong. AcidAce refused to allow the momentum of his victories get the better of him and he took round three. Stayfree stuck it through like a champ and took round four and ultimately the match with a close win.

They met again…Stayfree and A.N. West. Stayfree was back with a vengeance against the person who took him out the first time. It was the same characters against each other, Bang and Arakune. A.N. West led the way by taking round one in a super close victory. From here on out, most of the rounds were down to set point. Stayfree fought back and took round two, determined not to give A.N. West a shutout. But the fire was hot for A.N. West and he took back match three closely. With match four, it was clear who was destined to be the winner of this tournament. A.N. West walked away victorious as the champion of the BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend  tournament at ReveLAtions 2012.
