Pokemon Week Wrap Up: Black 2 and White 2 First Impressions

Published On October 8, 2012 | By Daniel Gomez | Features, Nintendo DS

Ok now that I’ve killed my battery on my 3DS, I have some time to write up a quick first impressions. Remember this is just a first impressions and that a full review will be written by Managing Editor Lucy Niess. First off, I want to say if you are a fan of  Pokémon, chances are you are going to enjoy this game. It takes what made Pokémon Black and Pokémon White so popular and expands upon it. Not only are the Pokémon fully animated, but every trainer in the game is also animated. Visually speaking, this game pushes the limits of what are capable of a DS title. So far I’ve completed two gyms and I can say both feel very different, I particularly enjoyed the Underground Nightclub/Gym. Now while the game assumes you have played the first games, you can still play this game and enjoy it. Pokémon at its core is still very formulaic, but changes just enough to keep things fresh. While I didn’t find the musicals all that great in the original Black and White, so far I have enjoyed the new Movie Studio. Yeah it’s tacky and silly, but it still is fun to make a scene. Well I am going to go back to playing, but for now I am enjoying it. Stay tuned to Velocity Gamer for a full review and a look at how Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2 have impacted the competitive meta.

Off to make the most of my Nuzlocke Challenge!
