Operation: Overwatch Community Challenge Set for Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer
Mass Effect 3‘s multiplayer mode is surprisingly fun and it keeps changing with free DLC packs and updates which change the game, sometimes significantly (perma perks). The recent DLC pack entitled “Earth” allows players to play as N7 special forces with unique powers and abilities. This DLC will be the focus of EA and Bioware’s community event this weekend.
So what do we have to do? Simply play Mass Effect 3 multiplayer and survive an extraction, specifically with an N7 character from the “Earth” DLC. A community goal of 800,000 extractions has been issued as well. Here are the details:
Operation OVERWATCH (July 27th 10AM PDT – July 30th 5AM PDT)
Operation OVERWATCH drops troops on Earth to tackle the most secure Reaper strongholds. Reaper anti-air defense will make for high-risk shuttle extractions.
Squad Goal: Extraction on any difficulty with at least one squad member using an Earth Pack character
Allied Goal: Extract 800,000 individual players on any difficulty, with each live member counting toward the goal.
Squad Goal Success: All squad members awarded a Commendation Pack.
Allied Goal Success: All players awarded a Victory Pack that includes a new Earth character.Special Circumstance: Extraction time lengthened due to failure of Operation BROADSIDE.
Requirement:Mass Effect: Earth must be installed to earn these rewards.
Did you see the “Special Circumstance”? Kind of cool that they added that in, not cool that the last event was a failure. Sometimes, depending on the difficulty, it can get pretty tough to hold the line and wait for extraction. The time being extended for said extraction could make a tough challenge, though.
We will see this weekend I suppose. The challenge will be live on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC this weekend starting Friday.
