Okami HD Puts the Power of the Gods in Your Own Hands Once Again
Clover Studio’s hit Okami, originally made for the PlayStation 2 and remade for the Nintendo Wii, is now coming to the PlayStation 3 in stunning HD. What is new about this release is that now it will feature trophies and be compatible with the PlayStation Move controller. You would be able to draw the brush strokes yourself rather than an analog from a controller.
You play as the sun goddess Amaterasu, reborn as a beautiful white wolf. The evil 8-headed monster Orochi is threatening to spread darkness throughout the lands of Japan and it is up to you to keep the grass growing and the beautiful colors from disappearing. But you are not alone; your trusty friend Issun is there to company you on your journey to defeat Orochi and save the world, one complaint at a time.
Okami for PlayStation 2 was a huge success. Released in 2006, it was named “Best Game of the Year” by IGN and Edge Magazine, and named “Best PS2 Game of the Year” by GameTrailers. A sequel was later released in 2010 for the Nintendo DS called Okamiden, not to mention Amaterasu making the roster for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 in 2011.
Bringing to life the artistic style of old Japan and giving the player the ability to draw using the celestial brush in HD is truly breathtaking. Okami HD is set to be released as a downloadable game through the PlayStation Network this fall for $19.99.
