Notch offers to fund Psychonauts 2

I have some tears of joy to produce.

Yet again, the top notch reporting team over at Giant Bomb has brought a fantastic story to my attention: Notch, the creator of Minecraft, has offered to use his colossal money pile to fund a sequel to Tim Schafer’s critically beloved classic Psychonauts. Notch decided to do things the old-fashioned way; by sending a Tweet saying “@TimOfLegend (Schafer’s Twitter account) Let’s make Psychonauts 2 happen.” He also made sure that members of the game journalism knew that an offer like this was not to be taken lightly, telling the Twitter account for Rock, Paper, Shotgun that he was “serious”. Once Schafer finally checked his Twitter and found the message, he posted an incredibly cryptic ”This is interesting.” five hours ago. Since then, the most recent news has been a statement issued to Giant Bomb from Double Fine: “Tim and Markus are talking. Who knows what might happen?”

Who knows, indeed. All we know is that a new Psychonauts (or really, any new Double Fine game for that matter) would be welcomed by a lot of people.
