Need for Speed Movie Coming Out in 2014
While I do get enjoyment of racing games, I am not an avid fan of them. I may rent one and play it online and with my brothers and friends locally but that is it. I have enjoyed both Burnout and Need For Speed and am liking how Need For Speed is going the Burnout route because I always did get enjoyment out of the crashing. Crashing those beautifully rendered cars to see great rendered collisions was and is still a delight.
This brings me to the fact that a Need for Speed movie is now in the works. EA expressed interest a couple of months back and it seems that they are working with DreamWorks to produce and make it a reality. Here is a press release from DreamWorks that tells all:
Brothers George and John Gatins developed the original story with George writing the feature’s screenplay. The screenplay is based on the Need for Speed series, but is not based on an individual game. EA will produce along with John Gatins and Mark Sourian. Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) is attached to direct, and the project will be fast-tracked at DreamWorks with a target production start date for early next year, for a 2014 release.
So what are your guys’ thoughts on this development? I personally do not mind as long as it has crashing and it does not try to have too much have a story and focuses on action. In fact, I think I would prefer a Split Second movie since Need For Speed may end up as another Fast and Furious.
I can imagine the huge budget to recreate each of the stages powerplays or gimmicks so to speak. Imagine the racers activating a plane to crash down on opponents or having a ship crash right into the stage or make a bridge fall. Now that would be an awesome movie!

I'm also a fan of Need for Speed and I love playing this especially when you have your own customize car and it is different in other racing games which you use formula cars.
