N7 Challenges Continue in Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer with Operation: Resurgence
Mass Effect 3 multiplayer just gets more an more addicting. It might be the same wave-based survival mode that we know from say… Gears of War most notably, with objectives sprinkled out the 10 waves. The fun part is playing with friends (duh!) and also putting together a team of different classes with distinctly different abilities. The packs that are bought with in-game currency replace an unlock system that almost requires you to keep coming back or else you’ll never unlock all the weapons.
Another exciting thing about multiplayer are ongoing community events. Bioware has been organizing events each weekend for the community to participate in which can consist of specific challenges or XP boosts.
This week, the Resurgence multiplayer DLC came out so it would seem a suitable focus for the spotlight in this weeks challenge. For those that have downloaded Resurgence (it’s free if you haven’t), you will notice that only the two new multiplayer maps (Firebase Condor and Hydra) are available right away, you have to unlock the weapons through spectre packs. Participating in this week’s event will grant all who downloaded Resurgence a reserve pack with one guaranteed new character from the DLC, if you haven’t collected all of them yet. Here’s an overview of Operation: Resurgence from the Bioware Blog.
Operation BEACHHEAD eased the pressure on allied planets and freed up conventional forces that were being hammered by the Reapers. With these reinforcements, the allies can use RESURGENCE to target more critical infrastructure.
Anyone who has the Resurgence Pack multiplayer DLC operational during this weekend will be granted a Reserves Pack. A Reserves Pack unlocks one of the new random alien classes guaranteed.
All participating squads will earn +10% additional experience when playing on the Resurgence expansion’s new maps, Firebase: Condor and Firebase: Hydra.
PS3 owners aren’t able to participate for an unknown reason other than something about EA not being able to run this promotion on all platforms. I scratch my head over this because this sort of thing is really cool and is a great way to get people playing the game. Hopefully Sony will find a way to participate in the future.
This Operation is currently available to Xbox 360 and PC users only, and will run from Friday, April 13th at 5PM PST to Monday, April 16th 5AM PST. Unfortunately, we are not yet able to offer our Multiplayer Challenge weekends on PlayStation 3. Sony has not yet approved the promotion. We continue to work with them to find a compromise, but until then, Sony will not allow us to run the same Multiplayer Challenges on the PlayStation 3 that we run on Xbox 360 and PC.
