Metro: Last Light Not Shipping with Multiplayer
In a recent blog post 4A Games has announced that Metro: Last Light will not ship with multiplayer. Originally a small team had been working on various multiplayer ideas. After E3, however, the multiplayer team merged with the single player team to focus 100% of the studio’s resources on providing the best single player experince. This was apparently due to the response that while there was interest shown about the idea of multiplayer in the game, people were more interested in the single player campaign.
4A also stated that multiplayer is not guaranteed to be released at all, but that they are interested in implementing it post-release. They are still silent about details of what the multiplayer mode would entail. One very important detail to all Metro fans is that the game is still on track for early 2013 release. You can read the full blog post here.
I for one commend 4A Games and THQ, 4A for realizing where their focus lies and showing that they still are interested in adding multiplayer post-release because they believe it is a fun concept they wanted to add as gamers. THQ deserves some love due to the recent dismal financial situation they are in that they are supporting this game and are fine with the possibilty of no multiplayer. We need more companies like THQ and 4A Games.
