Marvel vs. Capcom: Origins Takes You On A Nostalgia Trip

Both Marvel comics and Capcom are two major entertainment entities that have continued to wow the world with their movie releases and constant output of awesome video games.  In 1996, we were introduced to the concept of these two worlds colliding with X-Men vs. Street Fighter. From the beginning, these powerhouses of the entertainment gaming world knew that they had a winner and continued to shell out more and more games at the arcades and at home consoles. The most recent game of the franchise is Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, which features 50 characters from both the Marvel universe and the Capcom world.

Now, it is time to revert back to the days of begging our parents for money for the arcade just to get our sweet MvC fix on. But this time, no quarters or begging is necessary; just a PS3/Xbox 360 and a nostalgic mind. Capcom has just recently announced a combination of games called Marvel vs. Capcom Origins. This game combines both the original Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes and Marvel Super Heroes, along with some additional features. Those features include:

Upgraded visuals – allows for a variety of different HD filtering options, allowing over 30 different viewing experiences, including classic arcade looks. – Capcom.com

Online Play – Robust online systems make use of adjustable GGPO netcode, and features a spectator mode so you can still participate while waiting for your match to begin. – Capcom.com

Challenges and Unlockables – A dynamic challenge system – offering tasks spreading across both games, earns you points which you can use to unlock various goodies, including characters. – Capcom.com

Marvel vs. Capcom Origins is set to be released in September for only $14.99 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Check out the trailer below and be sure to keep your eyes peeled on Velocity Gamer for all your fighting game news!
