Lord of the Rings: Guardians Of Middle-earth Announced For Consoles

The Lord of the Rings has got to be one of the best fantasy series out there but the game’s haven’t always been that great of showing it. The movies have done a good job of it; the recent entries of games have done OK. War in the North was a fine game but Warner Bros. aims to better that with Guardians Of Middle-earth.

Warner Bros. Interactive has announced the downloadable title for Xbox LIVE and PSN. It’s a MOBA styled game that will even give off hints to the first part of The Hobbit, set to release in theaters at the end of the year. Here’s a snippet from WBIE:

“The MOBA genre is wildly popular with PC players and we are excited to bring it to consoles through the lore of Middle-earth,” said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development at WBIE. “The heroes and villains of Middle-earth are crafted in a way that perfectly intersects with MOBA game features, allowing the development team to create guardians with deep skills and abilities for gamers to master.”

You get to play as over 20 guardians from The Lord of the Rings universe. I’d expect this to play out more along the lines of Pandemic’s Lord of The Rings: Conquest, just by hearing “MOBA”.
