Kama Sutra Game Was Coming To PlayStation

It’s no secret that “would-be” game developers and publishers do come up with the darndest of ideas at times, bless their little cotton socks – but sometimes, we get that one off-chance that someone takes their potential just a little too far. In a recent interview, courtesy of Eurogamer, producer over at Sony, Pete Smith narrates to us one of the most absurdly bizzare pitches the company had ever gotten – a PlayStation 2 EyeToy-based game involving a weird rendezvous of sexual frenzy. …Well, let’s just call it the Kama Sutra of the PlayStation, shall we?

“We were talking about it back at the office,” Smith told Eurogamer, “Obviously we didn’t sign it and it never ever saw the light of day. But we were going, how exactly would we QA it? You can imagine these two big hairy testers going, ‘No, you’re the bitch tonight.’”

I would only give a million pounds to see what direction that QA session would’ve taken.

How would you demo the game to press?

“I know,” Smith said. “You’d just have to go for it, wouldn’t you? In one sense I think, god, I wish it would have been done. We could have maybe got some celebrity endorsements and stuff like that.

“What I just find strange is, sometimes you get these pitches and you think, this is just bonkers. But the developers absolutely believe in it, which is great. I’d much rather that than they come along halfhearted.

“This guy – I can remember it, I will never forget him – he was like, ‘We want to do this. We think it could be great. And, yeah. We get all kinds of pitches, but that’s definitely the one that stands out for me.”

Well, it’s nice to see people confident in their visions when it comes to the gaming industry, but sometimes, we come across that one person who’s a little… too confident.

Personally, I am still in a mixture of flabbergastation (yes, I just made that a word) and insane laughter where I am seated to make any further comments – I mean, really; it speaks for itself, and then some. But to round of the absurdity of all this, I’ll just go ahead and say this: Kinect? You are now another potential candidate to be getting some crazy ideas flung your way in the future – and by crazy, let’s just be hoping we don’t see another bedroom-pleasure enticed pitch.
