HBO GO Now Available For Time Warner Cable Customers on Xbox LIVE
HBO GO has been available on Xbox LIVE since April 1st. Pretty much every cable provider in the country had access for it’s customers except for Comcast and Time Warner Cable. I understood Comcast at first; they have their own app on the Xbox, Xfinity. It’s a movie channel just like HBO and you could even access the channel through the app for a limited catolog.
So Comcast came through shortly after HBO GO launched. Whether Comcast didn’t see the need to break a deal for the app or one just wasn’t reached is beyond me. Comcast customers did get support for the app in the end, but what about Time Warner Cable customers?
Today, on the Time Warner Untangled blog, we got word that HBO Go would finally be available for customers on the Xbox 360. This is fantastic news, especially since I am a Time Warner customer and happen to love HBO Go.
Unfortunately, you need a DVR with Time Warner in order to get HBO GO, which sucks, so it was previously only available in one room in the house for me. Now I can get it anywhere I have a 360 hooked up.
From reading prior to using the app on the iPhone. Two weeks prior to me getting the phone, Time Warner didn’t even support it on Android or iOS yet. The PC app wasn’t available either. Now I can get it pretty much anywhere and that’s pretty freaking awesome to me. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be catching up on Deadwood on HBO GO.
