Hawken live-action trailer has explosions and cliches

If any of you remember the live-action trailer for Hawken’s web-series earlier last year, this trailer happens to be a direct continuation.

In it, a gravelly-voiced and completely not-terrible narrator describes our team of mech pilots and their mission to rescue some woman before the scene eventually dissolves into explosions and shoot-outs. Ignoring the low-budget aspect, the trailer just honestly doesn’t look that impressive.

Having seen this, I can’t help but wonder why a formerly-indie developer is spending its money on a live-action web series. We fell in love with Hawken.. hrm.. 18 or so months ago? We’d like to actually play the game now. If we were going to do a plot-heavy short, couldn’t we have done a motion-comic type thing since a Hawken comic is already being planned?

Is anyone looking forward to watching this, or the coming movie directed by the man behind Act of Valor?
