Microsoft Purchases Website Domains: Halo 7, 8, and 9
Microsoft has told IGN the following about the purchase of the Halo Domains:
Microsoft often acquires various domain names as part of its ongoing business strategy, but beyond that we have no comment.
In the past 3 days, Microsoft purchased the related Halo domains and registered them through MarkMonitor, an internet brand protection company. Halo7.net, Halo7.org, Halo8.org, Halo9.net, and Halo9.org are the domains that Microsoft acquired.
The domains were registered by DNStination, Inc., which MarkMonitor administrates. MarkMonitor has listed Microsoft as a “strategic alliance” on its site and has worked to register Microsoft domains previously as well.
Microsoft recently announced that the upcoming Halo 4 will begin a series of three games known as the “Reclaimer Trilogy”. Although we know that the trilogy must include Halo 4, 5, and 6, this is the first hint that Microsoft could possibly be planning for games farther than we imagined. Just recently, a 343 Industries job listing suggested a Halo game is already in the works for next-gen consoles.
For now though, the only future Halo game that has been announced is Halo 4. Which hits the shelves on November 6th, 2012!
