Guest Editorial (sort of): The Jimquisition Rape Vs Murder
I was writing an editorial about some of the admittedly creepy things the Tomb Raider developers have said recently regarding how players will want to ‘protect’ Lara Croft as well as the attempted rape during the E3 demo, but then I realized I had to play a lot of Mass Effect 3 to get ready for the Extended Cut and then I had to play the Extended Cut. Plus, I have a podcast what needs recording on Thursday and then editing on the following days. I could rope some other writer into doing it, but I’m only reviews editor. What, am I supposed to tell somebody to review gender politics in video games? “1.5/5, needs serious work.”
So instead, I’m going to link you to a video by Destructoid’s Jim Sterling from his Jimquisiton series. It talks about rape and gender politics in video games, except without yelling at straight white guys or the games industry so that’s a one-up on most people talking about gender in videogames. We’ve embedded the video below, but you can check out more of Sterling’s videos here.
