Gearbox CEO says no Borderlands 2 SDK, still encourages modding
Co-founder and Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford announced that no SDK is in the works for Borderlands 2 at a Rezzed development session, according to vg247. He stressed that modding is still fully encouraged, though.
For those of you not up-to-par with development lingo, an SDK is short-term for software development kit. They’re essentially tools made to allow modification and development of their specific software. In this case, a Borderlands 2 SDK would be an incredibly useful tool when it comes to modders looking to implement extensive changes.
According to Pitchford, the development team had gone through the process of considering release of a SDK for the original Borderlands after release. They instead chose to start work on the sequel, seeing that the modding community had already worked on messing around in the game files to alter weapons and the like.
In the case of Borderlands 2, Pitchford hopes that the modding community will be able to repeat that situation.
Have any of you played the original Borderlands with mods? Would you have liked to see more in-depth mods?

Glad I have a gaming pc now, modding significantly expands a games lifespan.
