G4 nixes X-Play and Attack of the Show
G4 TV, once a proud gaming channel for the masses, is now removing the last stragglers from its once hefty gaming lineup to make room for Cheaters re-runs.
X-Play and Attack of the Show!, two of the channel’s most famous shows, are coming to an end this December. The shows will continue to produce episodes until then, rounding out the end with retrospective episodes and special guest spots. It is unknown how this will affect G4′s coverage of E3, Comic Con, and other events, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that ends too. During the cancellation announcement, G4 Media General Manager Adam Stotsky stated:
“‘Attack of the Show!’ and ‘X-Play’ have been important for G4, and we want to acknowledge the creative people who have helped inspire and showcase the phenomenon of gamer culture. With more than 3,000 episodes aired between them, we have more than enough great material to honor these innovators and their amazing contributions as we bring both shows to a close,”
G4 has decided to take a more Spike TV-esque approach, airing shows which they claim will appeal to teenage to late twenty year old men. This most likely means there will be multiple violations of women’s rights, so I hope you’re as excited as I am.
