Enemy Front – The Next Game from the Creator of BLACK

Published On May 8, 2012 | By admin | Uncategorized

It’s been quite a long time since we’ve had a shooter set in the WW2 era, but it seems that some developers are trying to bring the dormant era back to life this year. Sniper Elite V2, which we have yet to get our hands on, may have started the trend and Stuart Black, the creator of last gen’s underrated shooter, BLACK, is looking to continue it.

Powered by the CryEngine 3, the game is already looking pretty nice. It is early in development, so there’s plenty of stuff to fix up, but from the video you’ll see below, the gunplay is smooth and quite bloody. The story has you going behind enemy lines to focus on battles that haven’t been seen yet in WW2 shooters. The footage you’ll see below takes place in Dunkirk and the Owl Mountains. Evidence of concepts from BLACK are quite apparent here as the gun play has an action hero type vibe to it, which was one of Stuart Black’s goals; he doesn’t want you to feel like a nobody grunt on the front lines being commanded by an officer.  The game is linear in fashion, but offers players areas that are decidedly open ranges for firefights, giving you free reign on how to take on the Nazis. Being a World War 2 shooter, you can expect to see guns such as the M1 Garand, Thompson, and M1911, but you also see rare guns from the era, one of which you’ll see in the video below.

Black is also planning for the game to have a multiplayer component, consisting of 8v8 objective based battles. When more details are released, we will have you covered.

As you can tell from my somewhat choppy writing, there isn’t a lot of info yet on the game. The press has really just gotten their first hands-on time with the game a few days ago. We’ll make sure to keep you updated as more info releases. For now, check out some gameplay of Enemy Front below.
