Elder Scrolls Online – Screenshots, details, and a teaser trailer!
The Elder Scrolls used to be single-player, but then it took an internet to the design. The Elder Scrolls Online has just been announced, and now we have some screenshots and further details from Game Informer to hold us over a bit.
Director Paul Sage has stated that the interactivity, combat, and choice present in the series “does not translate easily to the MMO genre,” which is understandable. Zenimax Online certainly have a difficult task in front of them. The game will take place 1000 years before the events of Skyrim and will feature a conflict taking place on the continent of Tamriel. There will be three factions the player can join. The Ebonheart Pact consists of the Dark Elves, Argonians, and Nords. The Aldmeri Dominion is made up of Khajiit, Wood Elves, and High Elves. Lastly, Bretons , Redguards, and Orcs make up the Daggerfall Covenant. The game’s story is said to be canon, with Bethesda’s Todd Howard collaborating.
As for the gameplay, it will be presented in a third-person perspective, a marked difference from your typical Elder Scrolls game. Hotkeys will be used for combat, and random events involving NPCs such as robberies can occur within the gameworld. The new leveling system in place means you can’t specialize in everything this time around, though you can still join every guild the game has to offer. Public dungeons will also be available, though I’m not too sure what in the Blazing Nord those are. Given that the game map will cover all of Tamriel, the majority of both Skyrim and Morrowind will be traversable. Time will tell how accurately they will be represented, though considering how much fans love the series, I doubt they’ll change much. Cyrodiil will be one of the main attractions in the game, as it serves as the hotspot for PvP battles. Raids and instanced dungeons will also be available.
