E3 2012: Skylanders Giants Coming To Wii U

Taking giant stomps on to your future Wii U.

You’ll need to dig out your old Skylanders figures, as a sequel in the series is coming straight on to the Wii U – and yes, it will be compatible with your older models. The sequel was apparently confirmed to be coming to Wii U during a recent interview on GameTrailers with Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg.

Because the original Skylanders game was known to allow players to use the ”Portal of Power” to scan their collected toy figurines into the game, it seems the Wii U GamePad will be taking its place with its built in Near-Field Communication capabilities, allowing players the same purpose. Many fans of the original game are also hoping that since statistics are saved on to the figurines, existing character data will be able to be brought over to the new sequel.
