Drew Karpyshyn to leave BioWare

No, seriously! This MMO has good writing! Stop laughing at me!

If you’ve ever enjoyed the writing in a BioWare game, then there’s a high chance Drew Karpyshyn had something to do with that. I mean, the man worked on a MMO that has been praised for its writing, for God’s sake. But in what is a sad day for the both the company and gaming as a wholeKarpyshyn has decided to leave BioWare in order to “focus more time and energy on my novels and other non-video game related projects”.

“Just to be clear, the parting was completely amicable, and 100% my decision.” he said on his website. Officially, he retired a week ago, but he’ll still work on the first Old Republic tie-in novel. On the off chance you want to see Karpyshyn in person and let him know how much you loved Mass Effect 2 (because you should), his looser schedule allows for some convention appearances. He’ll be appearing at Star Wars Celebration VI, and A-Kon 23 if you want to get that copy of KOTOR signed.
