Don’t lose your head with this Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance dismemberment trailer
This is not your dad’s Metal Gear. In fact, I don’t think there’s ever been a Metal Gear quite like this one, as the series has migrated from stealth action to full-on melee assault in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (ain’t that a mouthful?). What makes it so special? You can dismember your enemies in what looks to be the most in-depth utilization of the concept ever seen in a game.
In the trailer below, you’ll see the system in action. You can do all of the crazy maneuvers you see with Raiden’s glowing energy katana. Or whatever you call it; the important thing is is cuts people up like a grater cuts cheddar! You can perform both vertical and horizontal slices in order to decimate the competition. You can even slice through rock, as witnessed when Raiden cuts through a pillar as well as the person behind it. That’s not to say you won’t have fierce competition; biomechanical enemies and even helicopters want to take Raiden down, so he (read: you) best be on his toes.
And of course, there’s all that girly story business. The trailer also tells us a bit about Raiden’s backstory, as he was apparently a child soldier growing up. I’m sure Kojima and crew will be able to craft an engaging story around that.
