Disney’s “Wreck-It Ralph” Gets Made Into Its Own Video Game

If you are anything like the typical gamer, you know that video game movies can be a hit or a miss. With box office bombs like “Super Mario Bros.” to a jewel in the crown like “Ace Attorney,” it is hard to score on a good video game adaptation. But how about working backwards, i.e. take a movie about a video game that doesn’t exist and make it into one?

That is what Activision will be doing with the Disney movie “Wreck-It Ralph,” a story about a man who is tired of being the “bad guy” in his own game, so he leaves his game and bounces around to different gamers. The trailer shows Ralph in a “Bad-Anon” meeting with various other fellow villains including Bowser, Zangief, Dr. Robotnik, and orange Pac-Man ghost Clyde. It isn’t everyday that you see all of your favorite villains on the big screen in a different light, so this movie is definitely one to check out.

Activision teamed up with Disney to create an arcade-esque side scroller that will be available on the Nintendo Wii, 3DS, and DS, but not confirmed for the release on the Wii U. This game will offer a co-op mode, which will allow you to play as either Wreck-it Ralph or Fix-it Felix and try to outsmart the other in destruction and order. This game will be released in fall 2012, around the same time as the debut of the movie on November 2, 2012 in theatres.

Judging from the trailer above, one couldn’t help but notice that the game-play is very “Donkey Kong” –esque with a big, gorilla like man standing on the top of a building, wrecking havoc upon its inhabitants. Details on the game-play are still kept under wraps, so keep an eye out on Velocity Gamer for future updates!
