Carmageddon: Reincarnation kickstarter reaches $400k goal

A good ten days ahead of its Kickstarter deadline, Carmageddon: Reincarnation reached and surpassed its $400k goal.

For those unfamiliar with the series, Carmageddon is essentially a manic racing series where you have a limited amount of time to complete each race, and time can only be gained by collecting bonuses, hurting other players, or mowing down pedestrians. A large emphasis on the last part, of course.

The original game was well-received and fairly controversial for its over-the-top violence and gore. And.. well.. y’know, the racing was fun too!

At any rate, Carmageddon: Reincarnation will be a complete re-boot of the series. The game’s Kickstarter page suggests that much of the original game will be “dragged screaming and kicking” into the current-gen world, along with a decent amount of new things.

With 9 days to go on its Kickstarter, we’ll see just how much more funding Stainless Games gets for its project. Either way, I’ll remain tentatively excited for the project. Any of you fine folks play the original?
