Call of Duty: Black Ops II to Feature Improved eSports Support

The Black Ops II Multiplayer trailer has been released and we have all got to see what Treyarch has had up their sleeve since the game was announced. Looking closely will giveaway some pretty cool new features like the assault shields, scopes, unscoped snipers, equipping a knife, tomahawks returning. But there is more to see than new gadgets.

If you haven’t yet checked out the reveal Multiplayer trailer for Black Ops II, what’s wrong with you? I mean, you can check it out right here. I’m a little wound up after that trailer but the thing that interests me most, outside of new toys to wreak havoc with, is the tidbit at the end of the video.

eSports in action: Scoreboard at the top, player name at the bottom left

What is it? Competitive gaming commentator hastr0 hosts that first segment in the trailer that’s shown and it’s replayed at the end with his commentary. The first thing he spills is that there is a multi-team mode in the game. This particular match was team death match but I’m sure it will span across other modes. That’s cool in it’s own right to see in a Call of Duty title but what interested me more was the enhanced spectator camera hastr0 was viewing the match on.

It’s a pretty slick spectator cam if you ask me. Slick enough to save hosts like MLG from having to put up many graphics over the game play because it’s all there already. The interface for who you’re spectating and what the score is will be displayed neatly in the lower corner and very top of the screen.

As far as control and other improved theater features go, it’s unsure yet. Keep tuning into Velocity Gamer for more Black Ops II Multiplayer news.

Pretty nice touch, no? Now if only they’d include a professional announcer for each match replay.
