Borderlands 2 Heads to Certification

Borderlands 2 is at the top of my list for best co-op games to come out this year. I enjoyed the first game so much that I’d spend hours on end with 3 other friends just doing whatever in the land of Pandora.

I’m happy to hear that Gearbox is now done with the game and it’s headed to certification. Now the focus will be on future DLC for the game. Here’s a snippet from the latest blog post on Gearboxity:

Today, we have some exciting new to share about Borderlands 2 — the game is headed to certification!

This means that the game’s on-disc content has been locked down and will be thoroughly tested to ensure it is ready for release -– in other words, the game is finished and we cannot make any further changes to the game. As such, the team is now shifting their focus towards post-launch efforts, including the Mechromancer: the new character class that will be released as FREE downloadable content to members of the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club roughly 60 to 90 days after launch.

Excited? The Premiere Club that they’re referring to is a free DLC pass that you’ll get if you pre-order the game. What’s free in that will be most likely small stuff, but you are getting that Mecromancer character to start, so it must be a bargain if you love Borderlands.

Borderlands 2 releases on the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on September 18th in North America and September 21st internationally.
