Bioware Accidentally Created A Gay Planet of Exiles…Intentionally

Earlier today Bioware has come under scrutiny.

In an attempt to prove that Bioware isn’t a bunch of 13 year old gay bashing modern action bro-sniping homophobes, they decided to add a little additional content to SW:TOR in the form of the planet, “Makeb”. A planet that features gay friendly dialogue options in what to me looks less like Bioware proving their worth inside the gaming community and more of them trying desperately to expand their demographic to slow down the eventual failure of their entire MMO.

The planet itself is certainly an interesting idea, but the fact this planet is very far out of the way, has absolutely nothing of worth to do on it, and all gay NPCs can only be seen on this planet and nowhere else ended up having an opposite effect of what Bioware wanted.  People are genuinely upset, they are asking why the NPCs appear to have been exiled to this planet, and people like myself are disturbed that such an obvious mistake was not only created, but was created at one of the WORST possible moments ever for the company. They are still dealing with the backlash of ME3 last year and this is certainly not helping to remove any nails from the coffin.

If they really cared about the issues at hand or proving their equality to the gaming community, then they should have added content, NPCs, and the dialogue options to more than just one planet. Then at a later date, add more of the content all throughout their game (what’s to stop them from making crazy factions, ingame events, and other content that reflects things you see in the outside world? Maybe even make statements about how the studios feel on the matter through the use of that content?). Of course this would mean spending money that Bioware itself probably doesn’t have which means this entire little adventure is likely going to be a failed investment. Perhaps Bioware should have spent less time trying to attract new players that would have likely hated the game for other reasons and actually fixed their new freemium models. Because as my friends have stated, ” there’s just nothing in that game that’s actually worth playing…. I really want to go back and play KOTOR now”

I’ll add more to the story as I hear it..
