$99 Xbox Rumor Turns out to be True

There was a rumor floating around the net for the past few weeks about there being a cheaper Xbox 360 model coming bundled with Kinect. The rumor started becoming true when it was found out that a 2 year Xbox LIVE subscription would be required for the bundle at a set price.

That rumor turned out to be true today when Microsoft announced this new bundle. The catch? Pay $15 a month for LIVE for the $99 Xbox 360 + Kinect bundle. You can opt out if you want to with an early termination fee. The other catch is that you have to buy this from a Microsoft store, so if you can find one, this is a pretty good deal.

Only available for a limited time

$469 is what it costs in total with the 2 years of LIVE at $15 a month which comes to $49 more than buying these items separately. It’s a good deal if you want an Xbox for the family, along with Kinect, and don’t want to pay for everything up front.

All the rumors about a new, cheaper Xbox have probably been squashed because of this. Microsoft is trying to move a lot of boxes into homes with a two year time limit, though; does that mean anything or is it just business? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
