3DS Browser-Based MMORPG Currently In Beta Development

Well, this is rather intriuging and surprising at the same time. Roughly a year ago when the 3DS came out, if somebody had told me a developer would actually go forth with the initiative to bring an MMORPG (browser-based or not) solely to the 3DS, I would have laughed them out the room. But it’s actually  happened, and getting some fairly enthusiastic button-mashing action while still in its developmental stage.

Truth be told, seeing as the genre is one traditionally based on PCs and Macs, this new-styled 3DS version can be seen as rather primitive. However, it does have the basic fundamentals of any other MMORPG – that does include a world map, online chat, the player’s inventory and the likes. As I said on the tin, it is still in its Beta stage, i.e. not fully developed yet, but as part of the general public, you can access it as of now - but for a price of course, alas, a rather cheap one.  Just create a login account as shall be directed on the game, and donate a dirt-cheap fee (well, that would depend on the quality of the game, I suppose) of $1, and shaboom – you’ll be able to access the current version of Project Triniate.

Any 3DS owners who have read this far and do have a bit of change to spare would probably already be revving to have a slight glimpse of the game, so here’s the link for any readers interested: http://triniate.com. But first of all, you may obviously want to see it in action, so being the kind soul I am, I’ve scoured the internet for a short video of it – and voila. Enjoy.

Interesting, but before I have any true faith in the genre actually making a face on to the Nintendo 3DS, I’ll have to see a bit more interest on this front. On the discussion front, do you think this may be the beginning of a new revolution of handheld MMORPGS?
