0x10c early screenshots seem moody

Screenshots for Notch’s sci-fi game 0x10c have made their way onto the game’s website and, while from an early build of the game, they seem to show a dark and subdued tone so far.

While most of the screenshots are meant to showcase various aspects being tested with the development of the game, they do offer an idea as to what it will look like when it’s more finalized.

In one of the most attention-grabbing photos, a lone explorer stares out a window at a distant globe, with space rock of some sort occupying his right. The imagery definitely sets off a more moody tone, and the atmosphere (get it? get it?) seems less friendly than that of previous games like Minecraft.

This could all be due to a general lack of implemented lighting, but other screenshots showing some of the dynamic lighting, with two characters being barely illuminated by a light-source in the middle of some rather intensive darkness.

Regardless, these screenshots are certainly an exciting peek at what’s in store for us. Is anyone else excited?
